Shriya Saran has had a brilliant career in films in various industries. She made her first cameo appearance in front of the camera in Renoo Nathan's music video 'Thirakti Kyun Hawa.' Ramoji Films saw that appearance and enabled Shriya to break through into films. Her first Telugu movie, Ishtam (2001), was produced by Ramoji Rao, where she played the lead role.
Shriya had her kitty full with four more films even before the debut film was released in 2001. However, she first enjoyed commercial success with the movie Santosham (2002), where Shriya starred alongside actors such as Nagarjuna and Prabhudeva. In this movie, she was recognized for her performance and even received a nomination for the CineMAA Award for Best Actor - Female. The film went on to win the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Film and the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film.
